Dr. Russell Stowers is the Director of Rehabilitation Services at CHRISTUS St. Vincent  Health System in Santa Fe, New Mexico.  His dissertation focused on professional development for physical therapists (PTs) and physical therapist assistants (PTAs).

Dr. Stowers is Board Certified in Healthcare Management as a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE). He is also a Past President of the New Mexico Healthcare Executives.

A veteran of the United States Navy, Dr. Stowers has served in numerous leadership roles in state defense forces, including Commanding Officer of various branches of both the Texas State Guard and the New Mexico State Guard. He previously served as Captain and Commanding Officer of the 47th Medical Company for the New Mexico State Guard.

Previously, Dr. Stowers served as the PTA Program Director at Del Mar College in Corpus Christi, Texas, for 10 years. He also served for eight years as a Commissioner on the PTA Panel of the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE). Additionally, Dr. Stowers is currently the Chair of the ALI LAMP School of Management, where he plays a pivotal role in advancing healthcare leadership education and credentialing. He actively mentors emerging healthcare leaders within his current organization, fostering professional growth and innovation in healthcare management.

An active member of the American Physical Therapy Association for over 35 years, Dr. Stowers played a key role in establishing the advanced proficiency certification program for PTAs.

Beyond his professional contributions, Dr. Stowers is deeply involved in his community. He dedicates his time to organizations such as Education First as an International Exchange Coordinator for High School students and has hosted 11 students from various countries.
