Graduate Minor in Public Administration

Want to build on your graduate studies and gain skills that broaden your career opportunities in the goverment or nonprofit sectors? Get a Graduate Minor in Public Administration!

The Graduate Minor in Public Administration offers the opportunity to obtain the strategic and technical skills needed to address challenges in public and nonprofit organizations. It is directed to graduate students not currently enrolled in UNM’s master’s degree in public administration (MPA) or master’s degree in healthcare administration (MHA) programs. Students must be enrolled in a Graduate Program to pursue a Graduate Minor.

Students must complete 12 credit hours including PADM 500 and at least three additional courses chosen from the list provided in the degree requirements section below.

  1. See the UNM Catalog for all requirements and electives for the 12-credit Graduate Minor in Public Administration.
  2. Take the required Public Administration course (3 credits):
  • PADM 500 - Introduction to Public Administration (3)

     3. Complete at least 3 courses (9 credits) of the following:

  • PADM 521 - Organizational Theory and Behavior (3)
  • PADM 525 - Human Resources Management (3)
  • PADM 526 - Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in the Public and Nonprofit Sectors (3)
  • PADM 530 - Ethics in Public Administration (3)
  • PADM 537 - Cross-Boundary Leadership and Governance (3)
  • PADM 544 - Financial Management for Public Organizations (3)
  • PADM 546 - Budgeting Systems (3)
  • PADM 597 - Program Evaluation (3)

Other PADM courses could be substituted with permission from the SPA Graduate Advisor.
