Curriculum Vitae


Dr. Griego Montoya is currently Professor of Practice at the UNM School of Public Administration as well as Adjunct Professor and Lecturer in the Departments of Political Science and the Community and Regional Planning at UNM. His teaching and research focus on public policy, economic development, social capital, and state and local politics. He has worked as an instructor, researcher, and policy maker on applied public policy issues ranging from early childhood education to housing and sustainability.  He was most recently a Fulbright post-doctoral research fellow at the University of Barcelona where his field research focused on the Social and Solidarity Economy, and the politics of local economic development.  He is also a Visiting Scholar at the Latin American and Iberian Institute at UNM and served as Assistant Chief of Staff for Policy for the Mayor of Albuquerque, New Mexico, where he led the mayor’s policy, government affairs and community outreach efforts. He holds a master’s degree in public management from the University of Maryland, and a master’s and doctorate in political science from UNM.
