About the School of Public Administration

Founded in 1969 under the leadership of former UNM president, Dr. Ferrel Heady, the School of Public Administration has provided a solid academic foundation for students preparing to enter leadership and management positions in the public and non-profit sectors in the state of New Mexico and the nation for over 40 years. More than 1,500 students have received Master's in Public Administration (MPA) degrees.

The School is one of the largest graduate programs on UNM’s campus and the only School of Public Administration in the state of New Mexico. We are proud of our contribution to communities throughout New Mexico, and look forward to the future with confidence. The School of Public Administration Celebrated its 40th anniversary in 2010.

Academic Programs

The School of Public Administration offers two master’s degrees: a Master Degree in Public Administration and a Master Degree in Health Administration.

To advance knowledge in support of professional education for public service, through the integration of interdisciplinary research, teaching, and service in order to address the management challenges of an increasingly complex and diverse global environment.
